“What Does It Take To Worship God?”
Exodus 10:24-29
Pharaoh had agreed to let Israel go. However, he told Moses that the flocks and herds had to stay behind. Moses replies in v. 26 that they would leave nothing behind because they didn’t know what it would take or would be required to worship God until they got there. Satan knows if he can get us to compromise in any area it will affect our worship and service to Him. God requires all our heart, soul and mind. Pharaoh tried to get Moses to compromise in 4 areas.
I. God Requires That We Be Free (8:25-27)
a. Free from servitude to sin (Rom. 6:17-18).
b. Free from the influences of sin (Rom. 8:5-6).
c. Free from the association with sin (John 17:14-15). We can’t worship God with one foot in the church and one in the world.
II. God Requires That We Be Fanatics (8:28)
Fanatic – “Extreme zeal, wildly enthusiastic”. Being different from the world is not an option, it is a command.
a. Dedicated
b. Enthusiastic
c. Zealous
III. God Requires That We Bring Our Family (10:8-11)
a. Parents should bring their children (Eph. 6:4).
b. Children should bring their parents (Eph. 6:1-3).
c. Brothers/sisters should bring their siblings (John 1:40-41).
IV. God Requires That We Bring Our Finances (10:25-26)
a. Worship without sacrifice and offerings is empty Mal. 3:8-9; Mark 12:41-44)
b. Lame offerings are vain and an insult (Mal. 1:7-8).
c. Should not set limits. If we are His servants it all belongs to Him to begin with.
